There are many different types of lawn aerators available. They also come at a variety of price ranges. It can be difficult to know if you are getting a good price on the machine. Sometimes it will be better to buy a machine while other times renting will be a much better option.

This article will look at a many of our options to help you figure out which one is best. Lawn aerator shoes are probably your least expensive option. Many models of these shoes are not very effective and tend to break rather easily. The types that do work will need to be used approximately every two weeks since the holes they make are not very deep.

Liquid lawn aerators are a bit more expensive than lawn aerator shoes. Because you can only use it once it actually ends up being very expensive per application. It gives the best results when it is used along with some other type of mechanical lawn aeration. Hand aerators are a good option if you have a small yard.

They are a very cost effective way to aerate your lawn. It will take some time and can be difficult to use if your lawn is too hard. The best results usually come with hand aerators which have two coring spikes. They come in handy if you have a small area which needs reseeding. The easiest and fastest way to aerate your lawn is with a machine core aerator.

These will cost the most as well. If you want to buy the equipment to do it yourself, then check out the listing of equipment on this page. Most people choose to rent these machines. You can expect to pay between $40 and $110 to rent a machine core aerator. You can lower your costs by seeing if your neighbors are willing to share the rental with you. Often you can find lawn aeration services that will do the work for you for around what it would cost to rent the machine. To find information and reviews on a local service companies that do lawn aeration, check out Angie's List.

When you look for a service to do aeration, don't look for the cheapest service. Aeration IS worth the money if you want a great looking lawn. I would check out the reviews on Angie's List and find a company that has a good rating.

Good Luck.

Moving water has a unique power to attract wildlife to your garden and fill your outdoor living space with a musical sound. Solar garden fountains are an environmental friendly and inexpensive method of adding a water feature to your garden. They create a natural gathering place for wild birds to bath and drink. In addition to wild birds moving water has the power to attract a variety of other wildlife to your yard.

A solar garden fountain should always be placed in an open area so birds can have warning if a predator is nearby. Solar power makes sense for your garden fountain for many different reasons. Many people are committed to saving energy while others do not want to dig up their garden to run power to an electric fountain. The solar panels are usually installed very discreetly on the fountain.

Usually you will not even notice that they are there. Some models will have separate solar panels which are connected to the fountain with a cord. With these types you can place the fountain wherever you desire and place the panel in the best location for getting direct sunlight. There are many different shapes and styles to look at when selecting a solar garden fountain. If your garden includes a pond you might want to take a look at floating fountains.

Often it will look like a lily pad and spray water up from the pond. There is a large selection of solar water fountains shaped like frogs, fish, and other animals. Solar garden fountains can also be found in more traditional designs like stunning cascading and tiered fountains. Another option is to buy a solar garden fountain kit which can supply solar power to your existing fountain. Inside the kits you will find a solar panel, a water pump, and a cable which connects the panel to the fountain. These kits are an inexpensive way to have a solar garden fountain in your yard.

Almost everybody desires to make a pleasing and beautiful atmosphere around their home, and one of the best ways to achieve this objective is to purchase one of the available koi pond kits which may add the perfect look to your backyard. The back yard should be the one place where you can get away from it all. It should be a reflection of your way of doing things. By picking the best plants and ornaments you can convey this style to all of your acquaintances and family. Adding a fish pond could be just the ticket to make the yard become exactly what you want it to look like.

Looks and Aesthetics

First things to consider: you do not want to purchase a fish pond kit which looks just like every other pond on your street. You will want to think about purchasing a koi pond kit which is flexible and can be built to suit your personality. Therefore you will probably not want to get a pre-made koi pond kit. The preferred koi pond kits will generally use natural looking designs versus the usual oval or circular styles. The Koi pond kit must have all of the equipment which you may need to put together the koi pond. You will also want to get a kit which should need minimal maintenance.

Koi Pond Kits - Supplies

An optimal Koi Pond kit should have the following items

EPDM (Plastic / Vinyl) Liner

Underlying Liner

Solids Handling Filter Pump

Water Hose

Waterfall Weir

Waterfall Foam

Bigger kits should also include a skimmer filter and bio-filter.

Which One is Best For You?

You can also find koi pond kits in several styles

Small - 550 gal. 6'x10'x2'

Medium - 800 gal. 8'x11'x2'

Large - 1500 gal. 11'x16'x2'

Xlarge - 3000 gal. 16'x21'x2'

Where to Buy Your Koi Pond Kit

You may have several options to find the best koi pond kit. Major hardware chains, wholesale clubs, local nurseries, in addition to online retailers should have a variety of koi pond supplies and kits. Just remember to spend your time researching, doing your homework, and you can be sure to find the perfect koi pond kit to compliment your yard.

I was checking out the professional grade chainsaws at the Stihl website and came across some great testimonials for how great their chainsaws really are. My little Stihl MS 290 did the trick for small jobs when I had my landscaping business. I'm a huge fan of Stihl equipment. Their chainsaws are big reason. They make great saws, especially for pros that need dependable equipment. Anyhow, here is a snippet of a testimonial I read that gives a clear picture of why so many tree surgeons love their Stihl tools...

I would say I was excited with the results. I was trimming down the remains of a 37 diameter silver maple trunk/stump to the ground that was cut two weeks prior (it killed my 15-year-old Craftsman).

The STIHL dug in and never bogged down as I leveraged it around the trunk. That was this summer. When I spent three days this weekend cutting down a red oak I was ecstatic! I have five non-safety chains and two safety chains I keep for reserve. I didnt even change a chain for the first six hours; didnt have to. Then a terrible thing happened: My saw got bound up in a relief cut, and when we attempted to free the saw, the tree shifted and fell, and hit the bar on the down. The bar and chain were ruined, and when I got to the saw the 23 diameter tree was lying on the machine. I figured that was it. We freed the saw, changed the bar and chain, and I held my breath as I tried to start it upand proceeded to cut down 27 more trees over the next 1.5 days! We cut, split and stacked 15 chords of wood with 20 guys and only 5 saws. I ran circles around every saw except another STIHL! Barely even a scratch after the tree hit minethank you for making such a high-quality product that I can spend extra money on and be confident it was worth it!

That guy is a Stihl customer for life. You can read the rest of his story and others at Stihl's website.

Check out the great deals on Stihl chainsaws that I found.

Happy Cutting!

These powerful leaf blowers can save you a lot of time and put more money in your pocket at the end of the day.

The BR600 back-pack leaf blower from Stihl is a great back pack blower. It is what I used in my lawn care business and it served me well. I still use it on my own yard. I used it on many fall cleanup jobs and it worked great.

It would have been even better to have one of the 11 hp Little Wonder walk-behind blowers, though. These things are sick. With both of these units you can pair up two people and make a killing doing cleanup jobs. If your a homeowner, you can take a lot of the sweat and hard work out of the yard cleanups and get back to doing something you enjoy. Either way, this combination of equipment is great.

Take a look at the video to see what I'm talking about. The Little Wonder makes quick work of that pile of leaves.

What do you think of these blowers? Give us some feedback on what you recommend so we can all blow better

Thanks,
Mike
